Aren’t the suggestion of sexual impropriety (the masturbation meme) or being blackmailed with the disclosure of a shameful sexual secret (there are rampant rumors that Russell is a closeted homosexual)especially effective in destroying a person’s reputation and good standing in society? Because, as we all know, the accused is guilty until proven innocent, and even if they are proven innocent, the stigma never really goes away. Scott Ritter? Julian Assange? If something like this is what happened and Jason Russell tried to explain it, he’d sound like a barking mad lunatic or at the very least some kind of meth case, which as of Friday, the whole country has already decided he’s one or the other. He’s screwed either way. Who’s going to defend him? Who’s going to stand with him? The dude is completely ruined. A laughing stock. Done. Toast. Whatever credibility he might have had has been damaged beyond repair. Hollywood couldn’t have crafted a better scenario. Or the explanation could be as simple as he just snapped under all the stress or he had too much to drink…

For a person to claim to be a professional mental health practitioner and insist that children reporting these things are always, or even most of the time expressing false memories is the epitome of something or other. My guess is this group of people recognized a niche in which their educational credentials could eke out a comfortable existence for themselves, along with a degree of notoriety. After all, in most cases the fees they would be able to command as a much in demand "expert" would be substantial. IMHO this makes them among the most objectionable of the world's oldest professionals, and above being drummed out of the profession as scoundrels, should be tarred and feathered while being run out of town on a rail before being keelhauled. My instincts, however, tell me that no such justice will be served as a result of "professional courtesy."
