Think the CIA Doesn't Spy on Americans? Think Again

This is a modified py-6 that occupies the entire horizontal space of its parent.

Think the CIA only spies abroad? Think again.

According to a New York Times article published yesterday, a recently disclosed CIA report found that “four Central Intelligence Agency officers were embedded with the New York Police Department in the decade after Sept. 11, 2001, including one official who helped conduct surveillance operations in the United States.”

Apparently, the CIA officer who worked with the NYPD thought there were “no limitations” on his behavior because he was on a leave of absence and therefore somehow exempt from the agency’s strict prohibition against domestic spying.

CIA Inspector General David B. Buckley cited numerous breaches of protocol and areas of concern in the report chiefly, that the collaboration was fraught with “irregular personnel practices,” that it lacked “formal documentation in some important instances,” and that “there was inadequate direction and control” by supervisors.

The executive summary’s declassification was made in response to a Freedom of Information Act suit and, coming in the wake of Edward Snowden’s NSA leaks, it will no doubt increase concerns about privacy and domestic spying.

While I don’t think the CIA intentionally spies on Americans, combined with the NSA leaks these revelations are disconcerting. I’ve always thought that the mark of a repressive regime could be found when its armies and intelligence agencies were geared more against internal dissent rather than external threats. Such governments can be found in Iran, China, and North Korea.

But we are different, right? I mean, surely our intelligence agencies were set up to protect, rather than spy on, our own citizens at least, that’s what I used to believe. Now I’m not so sure. It seems to me like our government is using its supposed purpose our protection in order to justify domestic spying.

Of course, in the “What We Do” section of its website, the CIA’s purpose seems clear: “to collect, analyze, evaluate, and disseminate foreign intelligence.” (Emphasis my own.)

Ah, its purpose is to “disseminate foreign intelligence”! So unlike with the NSA, we are definitely in the clear, because a government agency would never lie to us. Phew. Oh, what’s that? The NSA website also says it exclusively produces “foreign signals intelligence information”?

It is cliche, but I’ll leave you with a quote from George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984, and I ask you to consider whether you would like to live in the type of environment described by the protagonist:

“There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live — did live, from habit that became instinct — in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized.”

Our intelligence agencies are out of control, and it is time for them to return to the well-thought-out boundaries set by the Constitution.

” … Poggi reportedly presented documentary and photographic evidence to police in the company of two senior Vatican clergymen who vouched for his credibility. … “

Serving and former priests hired rentboys for sex in churches from pimp who sold consecrated hosts to satanists, says defrocked clergyman.

Italian investigators have opened an inquiry into claims by a convicted paedophile priest that an underage prostitution ring has been operating inside the Holy Roman Church with clergymen hiring rentboys for sex inside churches.

Don Patrizio Poggi, 46, told Italian authorities that a former Carabinieri pimped boys for nine clergymen.

Poggi, who served a five-year sentence for abusing teenage boys while he was a parish priest at the San Filippo Neri church in Rome, said he made the allegations to “protect the Holy Church and the Christian community.”

The boys were chosen because they were starving and desperate, he claimed, according to Il Messaggero newspaper.

The former policeman used to recruit the boys, mostly eastern European immigrants, outside a gay bar named Twink near Rome’s Termini train station. He reportedly sat in his Fiat Panda – marked “Emergency Blood” to avoid parking fines – to make his selection.

He was helped in the recruitment process by a friend who ran a modelling agency. He lured underage boys into prostitution through “false work offers for modelling and acting roles”, Poggi said.

The agent also looked for rentboys at gay discos, saunas and gyms across Rome. An accountant was also said to be involved.

The boys were paid €150-€500 (£130-£425) to perform sex acts in church premises across the capital.

Poggi also accused the former Carabinieri of selling consecrated hosts for satanic rites.

Poggi reportedly presented documentary and photographic evidence to police in the company of two senior Vatican clergymen who vouched for his credibility.

Poggi identified the nine clergymen, including two senior church officials and a religion lecturer. Three people have been placed under formal investigation.

The allegations were rejected by the Vatican. Cardinal Agostino Vallini, head of the Catholic Vicariate of Rome, said the priest made false claims out of a desire for vengeance and personal resentment.

The Vatican refused to reinstate Poggi after he served his term.

“The cardinal expresses his full confidence in the magistracy and declares himself full convinced that this slander will be demolished, demonstrating Poggi’s claims to be untrue,” Vallini said.

“God will hold everyone accountable for their deeds.”

Photo: Glendon Scott Crawford of the Tea Party Patriots “social welfare” organization and KKK plotted to kill Muslims while they slept with a device he described as “Hiroshima on a light switch”

” … Crawford, an industrial mechanic with General Electric, claimed the [X-ray weapon] could fit in a van, be triggered remotely and deliver lethal doses of ionizing radiation that would kill its targets as they slept, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court. … “

June 26, 2013

On June 19, federal prosecutors charged a Tea Party Klansman and his cohort in a plot so bizarre it could’ve been ripped from the pages of a comic book. The two upstate New York men were arrested on terrorism charges for trying to build a mobile death ray to kill Muslims.

Glendon Scott Crawford, 49, of Galway, and Eric J. Feight, 54, of Hudson, were charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorist use of a weapon of mass destruction, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.

Crawford, an industrial mechanic with General Electric, claimed the “Hiroshima on a light switch” device could fit in a van, be triggered remotely and deliver lethal doses of ionizing radiation that would kill its targets as they slept, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court. Feight, a computer software expert who knew Crawford from his time as an outside contractor for GE, allegedly designed and built the remote control for the weapon.

The plot began in April 2012, when Crawford went to an Albany-area synagogue and contacted a local Jewish organization “seeking out individuals who might offer assistance in helping him with a type of technology that could be used against people he perceived as enemies of Israel” and the United States. He called these perceived enemies and Muslims “medical waste” and “scumbags.” After the meetings, authorities were contacted and an investigation opened.

In August 2012, Crawford, a self-described member of the United Northern & Southern Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, travelled to North Carolina to meet with “an individual who is believed to be a ranking member of the Ku Klux Klan.” At the meeting, Crawford described the weapon, “presented his scheme to this official of the KKK, and solicited funds from the KKK,” according to the complaint. Several weeks later he travelled again to North Carolina to meet with and solicit two individuals introduced as “as Southern businessmen of means who were associated with the KKK.”

In addition to membership in the Ku Klux Klan, Crawford was also listed as the “coordinator” for a local chapter of the Tea Party Patriots, called Americans Demanding Liberty and Freedom. The Galway, New York group was formed in April 2009, during the early days of Tea Party activity. According to the ADLF page on the Tea Party Patriots website, the group is “Devoted to restoring the Constitution as the law of the land by electing a government that will work for the PEOPLE to restore Americas freedoms, economic security, and soveriegnty.[sic]”

At the time of his arrest, Crawford was also listed as a member of FreedomWorks. He joined the Tea Party faction’s FreedomConnector site in July 2010, and had been using it to network with other groups in the area, like the Saratoga County Constitutionalists and the Upstate Conservative Coalition.

At a November meeting at a coffee house near Albany, two undercover FBI agents met with Crawford and Feight to finalize the plot. They named their little group, “the Guild.” The two conspirators even gave themselves codenames, Crawford taking “Dmitri,” and Feight going by “Yoda.” One of the FBI agents gave Feight $1000 for materials, who in turn gave the money to Crawford.

Shortly after the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, Crawford ratcheted up his rhetoric. He sent a series of text messages to a confidant, railing against President Obama and Muslims,

Tell it to your treasonous bedwetting maggot in chief. He started bringing the scumbags have wholesale as he got in charge. He directed the ins to start bringing muzzies here without background checks. Your background was scrutinized more to join the army than any muslim scum gets to come here. They don’t have to follow any laws, and this administration has done more to enable a government sponsored invasion than the press can cover up. Be pissed, but get the word out that obamas policies caused this. You watch, they will downplay the muslim angle if they dont cover it up. Be pissed. I am too. I been warning this was coming. Its here. [sic]

The scheme intensified after that. On May 20, Feight and Crawford allegedly met at a hotel near the Capital District in Albany to test the range of the remote control. Crawford and an undercover agent drove around for twenty minutes to find that the range of the device was roughly 4/10 of a mile. Crawford then sent a text message to Feight reporting the successful testing of the remote initiation device.

The plan came to an end when authorities swept in on 18 June, as the two were planning the final steps to connect the remote initiation device to the x-ray system’s control panel.

The New York caper is the latest arrest of Tea Party Aryan-types. AS IREHR reported last August, a Virginia Tea Party activist and self-described “100% Aryan” plead guilty to weapons charges.. The investigation revealed a trail of racism and alleged threats against President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder.
