The Dulles Brothers, Architects of the Bay of Pigs Invasion

This is a modified py-6 that occupies the entire horizontal space of its parent.

On October 26, 51 years ago, Fidel announced the creation of the Revolutionary National Militia. Granma International will be publishing a series of articles on the events leading up to the April, 1961 battle of the Bay of Pigs. As we approach the 50th Anniversary of this heroic feat, we will attempt to recreate chronologically the developments which occurred during this period and ultimately led to the invasion. The series will be a kind of comparative history, relating what was taking place more or less simultaneously in revolutionary Cuba, in the United States, in Latin America, within the socialist camp and in other places in some way connected to the history of these first years of the Cuban Revolution.

THE brothers Allen and John Foster Dulles were the principal architects of the U.S. cold war on Cuba, which has already exceeded half a century.

It was not for pleasure or ideology. According to The Worker newspaper, they had personal economic interests which determined their position toward the Island.

The Francisco and Manatí Sugar sugar companies were controlled by the J. Henry Banking Corporation of New York, headed by Allen Dulles who, as director of the CIA, was responsible for U.S. subversive plans to overthrow governments in Cuba, Indonesia, the Congo, Iran and Guatemala. He acted in concert with his brother, John Foster Dulles, secretary of state during the Dwight Eisenhower administration.

The United Fruit Company, which came to own plantations in Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Cuba, owned 109,700 hectares on the island, grabbed by clever lawyers from defenseless campesinos, along with facilities, buildings, machinery, heads of cattle and other assets. The United Fruit Company devised a way of validating its property deeds – whether legitimate or falsified – and expropriated most of the haciendas in Banes, in the former province of Oriente, to join together those lands in one huge estate.

Associates of the powerful Sullivan & Cromwell Company, as well as investors in United Fruit, the Dulles brothers – in conjunction with the Bush family, particularly the grandfather – dispatched assets worth one billion dollars to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party, according to Karlheinz Deschner in his book The Moloch Dulles. In addition, in his book Overthrow, Stephen Kinzer reveals that the company profited from doing business with the Nazi regime. Wikipedia also reports that John Dulles publicly supported the Nazis up until 1935 when he closed the Berlin office. In spite of those infamous tendencies, they claimed to be champions of democracy.

Allen maintained a personal relationship with Batista, whom he visited in 1955, in order to establish the basis for a kind of branch of the CIA, the Bureau for the Repression of Communist Activities, the sinister BRAC.

A document from November 24, 1959, declassified by the British government and handed over to Cuba by its American section in March 2001 – on the occasion of the Bay of Pigs 40 Years Later academic conference here – revealed that, at that point, Allen Dulles had his strategy for Cuba’s recapture well developed: he was pressuring Britain to prevent the sale to the revolutionary government of Hunter combat aircraft and a whole arsenal of other weapons, which were under negotiation. His secret objective was to force the Cubans to “solicit weapons from the Soviets or the Soviet Bloc”(1), in order to insert the island into the Cold War and thus give credibility to his thesis of the danger represented by the Cuban Revolution to the security of the entire Western Hemisphere. He tried to repeat that success with a similar tactic in 1954, which served as a pretext for the operation which overthrew President Jacobo Arbenz of Guatemala. Allen Dulles presented Cuba as a USSR platform in the Americas.

Fulgencia Batista

Just one month after Batista’s flight, the Eisenhower administration refused a modest credit line to a delegation from the National Bank of Cuba, requested because “the principal capos of the regime defeated by the Revolution had embezzled or had stolen $424 million from the gold and dollar resources backing the Cuban peso”…and were received in the United States together with the authors of the most abominable crimes and abuses against the Cuban people.” (2)

The radical Agrarian Reform Act which came into effect three months later, on May 17, immediately fuelled the anger of its neighbor to the North, given that it damaged, above all, United Fruit interests, at least according to the Dulles Brothers: “If we take away Cuba’s quota, the sugar industry would quickly suffer a rapid collapse, causing generalized unemployment. Many people would be left without work and would begin to go hungry… an economic war,” Secretary of State Foster Dulles acknowledged. (3)

Just six months after the Agrarian Reform Act was enacted, in a memorandum dated December 11, 1959 from J. C. King, chief of what would shortly become the Western Hemisphere Division of the CIA, called for “a careful analysis of the possibility of eliminating Fidel Castro [which] would greatly accelerate the fall of the government” (4) was approved and, particularly, the assassination proposal, as reflected in the note on the document, signed by Allen Dulles and dated one day later, on December 12.

In the name of freedom and democracy, the Dulles brothers subverted half the world. Their first defeat was in 1961, in Cuba. To a certain point it is natural although unjust, that those brothers, partners of United Fruit and Sullivan & Cromwell, should defend their personal interests. That would be expecting the impossible.

But it is too much of a mockery of human intelligence to believe that the Dulles brothers acted to preserve democracy and freedom. They lacked the honesty demonstrated by B. Rathbone, president of Esso Standard/Exxon, when he stated in Copenhagen in June 1961: “You cannot reproach us who are seeing with extreme displeasure how Soviet oil is being processed in our Cuban refineries.” That is arrogance without hypocrisy.

Recently revealed audio tapes of Michael Jackson reveal that he was desperate to raise cash and feared for his life as he ran up huge loan debts with organized crime. The tapes were from a friend’s answer machine. They were recorded in 2003. The messages came shortly after the story broke of Jackson sharing his bed with his children and the worldwide backlash that followed. The tapes also reveal that Jackson was heavily influenced by his addiction to pharmaceuticals.

The tapes reveal a man that was heavily paranoid and fearing for his life. He referred to the Italian mafia in the tapes and his fear that they would kill him. He also referred to being stalked on the tapes. On the tapes there are frequent requests for “150” to be placed into his account which meant $150,000.

There are also references to Jackson working on super hero entertainment projects on the tapes with Spider Man, Incredible Hulk, and X-Men 2. He had hoped to borrow money to make investments in those projects to re-ignite his career. Jackson died last year at the age of 50 due to powerful anesthetics in which 11 containers were found. There were also sedatives found.

Dr. Conrad Murray, a cardiologist, was with Jackson when he died and has been charged with involuntary manslaughter although he vehemently denies any wrong doing. Jackson’s first wife was Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley, and he once told her that he feared he would die in the same manner as the King of Rock and Roll. The King of Pop was slated to make a concert tour comeback prior to his death. In the end Jackson tried to escape from his own Netherland ranch and his financial woes but ended up in a tragic death.

16th Moslem Partisan Brigade, a 15000 members strong anti-Fascist Bosnian Muslim resistance force in World War II

On March 25, 1941 in Vienna, Serbian Prince Paul (Pavle), Regent of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, signed the Tripartite Pact to join Nazis. Two days later, the regime was overthrown by a military coup d’état with British support, and the 17 year old King Peter II of Yugoslavia seized power. However, General Dusan Simovic became Peter’s Prime Minister and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia initially tried to dissolve the Pact, but later declared adherence and loyalty to Hitler (Führer). Bosnia was part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Widespread protests in Sarajevo against Nazi plans to bring Yugoslavia into war were met with Hitler’s fury.

Starting on April 6, the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) bombed Sarajevo and Belgrade for four days and three nights. According to German reports, Sarajevo was bombed to ruins, while Belgrade sustained heavy damage. German ground troops (Wehrmacht Heer) moved in, and Yugoslavia capitulated on April 17. Once the kingdom of Yugoslavia was conquered by Nazi forces, Serbia became a Nazi puppet state led by the régime of General Milan Nedić, while Bosnia became annexed by Ustasha controlled Nazi puppet state of Croatia.

Soon thereafter, the Croatian anti-fascist leader Josip Broz Tito organized the first multi-ethnic resistance group in Europe, the Partisans, who fought against the Nazis and their collaborators – Chetniks and Ustashas. According to Tito, “Jews played a leading role in the founding of his resistance movement.” The leading figure among them was Moshe Pijade (Moša Pijade).

Majority of Serbs in the area took up arms and joined the Nazi-collaborationist Chetnik forces led by General Draza Mihailovich. Though initially fighting against the Nazis, the Chetniks signed numerous documents of collaboratioin with the Nazis. Assisted by Germans and Nedić’s regime, Mihailovich’s Chetniks embarked on a campaign to exterminate Bosnian Muslims, Jews, and anti-fascist communists (Partisans). The intelligence reports obtained by the Soviet government in WWII shows that Milan Nedic “agreed to supply $200,00 a month plus 3,000 rifles, 3,000,000 rounds of ammunition and 500 machine-guns” to Mihailovich … all obtained from the Germans.”

As part of his genocidal policies, General Mihailovic issued the so called “Instructions” (“Instrukcije”) to his commanders on December 20, 1941 to fight for “the creation of Greater Yugoslavia, and within it Greater Serbia, ethnically clean within the borders of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Srem, Banat, and Backa” and to ‘cleanse’ (destroy) “all national minorities [including Jews] and anti-state elements from state territory“.

Further, Mihailovic asked his commanders create “direct common borders between Serbia and Montenegro, as well as Serbia and Slovenia by cleansing the Muslim population from Sandzak, and Muslim and Croat populations from Bosnia and Herzegovina.” Mihailovic planned to settle “areas cleansed of national minorities and anti-state elements by Montenegrins” whom he considered to be ‘nationally patriotic’ and ‘honest.’

In a report dated 3 February 1943, Draza Mihailovich’s Nazi collaborators boasted about their war trophies:

“All Moslem villages in three mentioned locations [municipalities of Pljevlje, Cajnice, and Foca] were burned down, and not even one home remained intact…. During military operations, we engaged in total destruction of Moslem population without regard to their sex or age. Our victims include 22 dead, of which 2 by accident, and 32 wounded. We killed about 1,200 Muslim soldiers and about 8,000 of their women, elderly and children.”

The Chetniks financed their operations, particularly ethnic cleansing and genocide over the Bosnian Muslim population, through rescue efforts of Allied and Nazi pilots downed over Yugoslavia. Allies paid Chetniks in gold for each successful rescue (Operation Halyard), while Nazis paid them in arms and ammunition.

The Yugoslav Partisans in Bosnia also rescued Allied pilots and were paid in gold for each rescue, just like Chetniks. Maj. Linn M. Farish parachuted into the wild Bosnian hinterland Sept. 19, 1943, to join the British-American mission to Marshal Tito’s partisan headquarters. He went to Josip Broz Tito for assistance in rescuing fliers bailing out of crippled planes over Yugoslavia. The partisan leaders responded by sending this order to every brigade headquarters: “American fliers must be rescued from enemy elements by force of arms if necessary.”

All the major military offensives by the antifascist movement of Yugoslavia against Nazis and their local supporters were conducted in Bosnia-Herzegovina and its peoples, particularly Bosnian Muslims, bore the brunt of fighting. A majority of Bosnian Muslims joined anti-fascist forces in World War II, and a small number joined short-lived SS Handzar (Handschar) division. As Džemaludin Ibrahimovic, a Muslim priest in the Handzar division, explained:

“When we heard that we can voluntarily register in a German unit, many took advantage of that opportunity. In Bosnia, at that time, we had a positive memory of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. So we felt inclined to serve in the German unit. We perceived Germany as a symbol of purity, order and discipline. At that time, we knew nothing about the concentration camps and the persecution of Jews, because majority of Handzar’s volunteers came from the poorest areas of Bosnia, mostly from the countryside. It should be taken into account that the Nazi collaborating Chetniks in eastern Bosnia massacred thousands of Muslims, so we wanted to take the opportunity to defend ourselves.”

The most notable Bosnian Muslim anti-fascist brigade in World War II was the “16th Moslem Partisan Brigade” that inflicted heavy casualties on the German and Italian forces, particularly in battles for Drvar, Livno, port of Zara (Dalmatian coast), Bihac, Tuzla, Sarajevo, and eastern Bosnian front. This was the strongest anti-fascist Bosnian Muslim brigade with 15,000 well-armed guerrillas under the command of Josip Broz Tito.

The 16th Moslem Partisan Brigade is credited with a partial destruction of collaborationist Muslim Handzar division. Bosnian Muslims led by Tito inflicted heavy casualties on Handzar in battles around Tuzla in February 1944.

Throughout the war, the Chetnik movement remained almost completely inactive against the occupation forces, and increasingly collaborated with the Axis, losing its international recognition as the Yugoslav resistance force.

Major William Jones, who spent twelve months with Tito’s Partisans in Bosnia, wrote in his book that he witnessed captured Ustasha and Chetniks members admit collaborating with Nazis against the anti-fascist Partisans:

“We were allowed to see and question them, which we did with the aid of our own interpreter. There were sixteen prisoners in all: seven Italians, three Ustashi, four Chetniks and two Domobranci. They told us that they had all been fighting together under Italian officers in defence of a section of railway which the Partisans had recently attacked. The Italians were in full uniform, the Ustashi, Chetniks and Domobranci in part uniform, some with tunic, others only puttees or a pair of Italian pants; their old civilian clothes completed their attire. All were without headdress when we saw them. The Ustashi and Domobranci claimed Pavelic as their leader, and the Chetniks declared themselves to be followers of Draza Mihailovic…”

It was only after the withdrawal of the Germans and the overthrow of Milan Nedic (October 1944) and Ante Pavelic (May 1945) that the Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina began to join the anti-fascist Partisans in large numbers. These new Partisans included tens of thousands of former Serbian Nazi collaborators responding to Tito’s promises of amnesty.

After World War II, General Draza Mihailovich was arrested and put on trial before a Yugoslav military court on charges of both collaboration and treason. Mihailovich admitted he collaborated with the Nazis.

The military tribunal acknowledged Mihailovich participated in rescue efforts of downed Allied and Nazi pilots, but concluded his guilt was established on the overwhelming evidence against him, documents he and his subordinates signed while collaborating with Nazis.

After the prosecutor confronted him with a series of documents attesting to his collaboration with Nazis, Draza Mihailovich confessed he was a Nazi collaborator:

“What do you call this?” demanded the prosecutor after reading the letter.

“Intrigue,” replied Mihailovich. [*definition of ‘intrigue’ = A secret or underhand scheme; a plot.]

Q: “Is that collaboration?” [the prosecutor asked]

A: “Yes” [was the reply from Mihailovich]

Q: “Is that your collaboration?”

A: “Yes,” Mihailovic answered.

Acording to Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Israel,

“The first Chetnik units came into being shortly after the Yugoslav army’s surrender to the Germans in April 1941, on the initiative of Col. Draza Mihajlovic, an officer of the Yugoslav general staff. … The Chetniks’ struggle with the invaders came to a complete stop at the end of 1941, and gradually evolved into cooperation with the Italians and the Germans against Tito. … The Chetniks became [Nazi] collaborators and joined the forces fighting the partisans. After the occupation of Serbia by the partisans and the Red Army, the Chetniks were hunted down. Shortly after the end of the war, Mihajlovic and his men were captured and brought before a Yugoslav national tribunal. Most of them were hanged. At the initial stage, there were some Jews among the Chetniks, but when it turned out that the Chetniks were not fighting the invaders and their collaborators, and in fact were inclined to cooperate with them, the Jews switched to the ranks of the partisans. As the Chetniks increased their cooperation with the Germans, their attitude toward the Jews in the areas under their control deteriorated, and they identified the Jews with the hated Communists. There were many instances of Chetniks murdering Jews or handing them over to the Germans.”

The media write a lot about the US aggressiveness in international politics, Washington’s efforts to push alternative centers of power off the world scene, and its belief that the populations of China, India, Russia, Brazil and many other countries impose an excessive burden on the environment. Individual players in the framework of the global project – US diplomats, spies, Peace Corps activists, USAID employees – receive relatively little coverage. US ambassador to Guatemala Stephen McFarland is one of them.

According to Wikipedia, he was born in Texas in 1955 into the family of an officer of the elite Bureau of Intelligence and Research of the US Department of State. The duties of S. McFarland’s father were not limited to collecting and analyzing freely available information – he also coordinated field operations in Latin America and the Middle East. Eager to build a career modeled on that of his father, Stephen finished the American School of Lima (Peru), then studied at Yale University and the US Air War College.

McFarland’s first diplomatic appointment brought him to the US consulate in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The US always ascribed high priority to the collection of information in oil-rich regions, and McFarland clearly did a good job handling the task.

Later McFarland held diplomatic posts in the US embassies in Quito, Lima, La Paz, and San Salvador. When the list of positions to be used as cover for US intelligence operatives was broadened by G. Bush’s Administration, McFarland was promoted to US Chargé d’Affaires, first in Paraguay, then in Venezuela. Between the terms, McFarland served as the State Department’s intelligence coordinator for Nicaragua and Cuba.

McFarland was introduced to Guatemalan president Alvaro Colom as the US ambassador in September, 2008. Colom, the president who evoked heightened expectations among the Guatemalan left, must have had no idea that the new US diplomatic envoy arrived with a special mission to act on parallel tracks as an ambassador and a coordinator of the US intelligence operations. The appointment was sealed on the highest US level and blessed by US Director of National Intelligence J. Negroponte.

Several other US ambassador-residents – notably, those in Venezuela and Ecuador – hold posts of a similar nature. When Negroponte became C. Rice’s deputy at the US Department of State, he attended the ceremony of McFarland’s departure to the new destination. Uniquely, the whole event was videotaped and posted in Internet, evidently to demonstrate that McFarland was not a secretive figure.

Posts in the Internet concerning McFarland tend to be harsh. M. Grijalva expressed a widely-held view when he wrote that McFarland, a Republican diplomat likely linked to the CIA, epitomizes audacity, corruption, and sinister methods and is charged with the mission to overthrow Colom’s social-democratic government. The post said only Judas might know how McFarland earned his rewards.

The very first days of McFarland’s work in Guatemala were marred with a scandal as secret microphones and video cameras were found in the Guatemalan leader’s office and residence, including the bedroom. Reports were leaked to the media that the advanced spy equipment could supply information on-line to receivers sited at a distance of 1-1.5 km, and the widespread impression was that the CIA must have been responsible. Fingers were pointed at the US embassy’s political department chief B. Drew who left Guatemala by the time the spy equipment was discovered.

McFarland had to deal with the fallout, but president Colom’s own statement that the microphones and cameras had been installed by the drug mafia and organized criminal groups helped him out. McFarland readily upheld the president’s version and blamed the security breach on the Secretariat for Administrative and Security Matters, SAAS. SAAS chief Carlos Quintanilla and his protege – the chief of the Secretariat for Strategic Analysis, SAE, Gustavo Solano promptly went into hiding.

Following Colom’s request, McFarland invited the FBI to investigate the incident. The spy equipment was passed to the FBI agents who – after a considerable delay – stated that the devices were defunct and, consequently, the fears of Colom’s loyalists that sensitive data on Guatemala’s foreign politics, national security, and arms import plans could have been stolen were groundless.

Quintanilla faced trial only in 2010, when the incident had largely receded from the spotlight, and was acquitted due to the lack of implicating evidence. The investigation ignored the facts that Quintanilla and Solano were no strangers to the US embassy and had off-duty contacts with US intelligence operatives.

McFarland must be credited with success in addressing his number one political task – to separate Guatemalan president Colom from the populist leaders. Colom talked to them a lot at various forums and readily took part in joint photo sessions, but no serious practical steps followed. Even Guatemala’s attempts to join the Petrocaribe consortium patronized by Venezuela were regarded as defiance in Washington, economic damage to Guatemala notwithstanding. As a result, Guatemala became a Petrocaribe member only in June, 2009.

Ambassador McFarland gradually took the role of a captain charting the course for Guatemala’s socioeconomic transformation. It is up to him to bless the majority of government appointments and to suggest what legislation regulating its law-enforcement agencies Guatemala should pass. At the moment he is pushing for a new law on Guatemala’s national police. Occasionally, McFarland advises president Colom to fire particular officials based on their alleged drug cartel connections. As a general rule, the views held by the US ambassador meet with the Guatemalan politicians’ full understanding.

McFarland generously dispenses advice on the struggle against drug trafficking and corruption, army modernization and arms import, and USAID food supplies to famine-stricken regions of Guatemala. His restraint was put to a serious test just once when he attended a memorial ceremony organized by the relatives of Guatemalans who had been killed or went missing in the country’s internal conflict. Weeping women begged him to open up CIA archives which must contain information about the corresponding burial sites, so that they could bury their loved ones properly. Evidently touched, McFarland pledged to cooperate, but it remains unknown whether he did what he promised to.

On March 6, 2010 published a crushing article on McFarland’s grip on Guatemala. It read:

“What would you say about the statements made by an ambassador of a country that used to be seriously involved in a dirty war in our country as well as in other parts of Latin America which took some 200,000 lives? He continues to intervene with unprecedented boldness into the domestic affairs of our country. He represents the nation which fostered counter-revolution and annihilated the democratic government of Jacobo Arbenz. His nation created and controlled the death squads with their practice of genocide and anticommunist cleanings. What moral right does the individual have to express views concerning terrorist activities which the US actually planned for the countries it regards as its own backyard? Didn’t its military advisers train and direct the army of killers operated by the military regimes of the epoch?”

McFarland probably remained unperturbed as his term in Guatemala is nearing the completion. A new appointment and a new mission await him. At the departure ceremony, president Colom will award him the Order of the Quetzal as a recognition of his service to Guatemala.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which caused a little embarrassment to House Speaker Robbie Wills earlier today, is getting far broader attention for its labeling of the Family Research Council a hate group for its anti-gay speech. That puts the Family Research Council in a league with the KKK. (This is the national group, which, though wholly allied in spirit and shares James Dobson as a founder, is not legally connected to Arkansas’s Family Council.)

SPLC Designates the Family Research Council as Anti-Gay Hate Group

Sam Says | November 28, 2010

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) recently released the Winter 2010 Intelligence Report, and in the report the SPLC designates the Family Research Council, based in Washington D.C., as an anti-gay hate group.

Click here to access the report that discusses this designation.

The Family Research Council should be apologizing to the gay community

And while I am happy with the coverage, I am not happy with how these groups are trying to cover their tracks. They are trying to make it seem as if they are being attacked because they have made stands against gay marriage.

The key person pushing this argument is Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council.

Perkins has even had the temerity to demand an apology from the SPLC:

Family Research Council will continue to champion marriage and family as the foundation of our society and will not acquiesce to those seeking to silence the Judeo-Christian views held by millions of Americans. We call on the Southern Poverty Law Center to apologize for this slanderous attack and attempted character assassination.”

Let’s be clear about something – the claim that these groups, particularly FRC,  are being attacked merely for their stance against gay marriage or their stance against homosexuality is a lie. …’

Author reveals great-grandmother was Banished Krupp from German dynasty; five generations living undetected in US for decades

Freehold, NJ (PRWEB) November 24, 2010

A Freehold Twp., New Jersey man reveals in a newly-release book “The Cannon King’s Daughter: Banished from a Dynasty, the True, Untold Story of Engelbertha Krupp,” that his great-grandmother was Engelbertha Krupp, the banished and disinherited daughter of Alfred and Bertha Krupp from Nazi Germany’s 400-year-old industrial dynasty of Essen. Her banishment from the family’s dynasty was kept hidden by her parents for almost 135 years. Her birth records believed destroyed at the church in Essen where she was baptized.

While conducting research on his family on in 2008, Stroebel’s family tree took the most unusual turn. After discovering his great-grandparents’ names on census records he reached out to find out more about them. He had contacted distant relatives he had never known before. They told him that his great-grandparents worked for Kaiser Wilhelm I, the Emperor of Germany and that the true identity of his great-grandmother was Engelbertha Krupp from the famous steel and armaments manufacturer in Essen. The author investigated these and other revelations for 18 months and uncovered facts along with photographic evidence to corroborate these and other revelations. He is now reintroducing her to the world and to her rightful and legal place as heiress to the Krupp Empire next to her deceased brother, Friedrick Krupp.

After disobeying her father’s orders to break off her engagement with Stroebele, it is believed that, like other Krupp family members threatened with disinheritance over the years, that daughter Engelbertha was banished and disinherited from her family dynasty around 1874. It is the conclusion of the author that her banishment and disinheritance was kept secret by her parents. Although no physical proof exists, the author believes that her very existence was stricken from the church books of the Market Church in Essen where she was believed to have been baptized. Engelbertha, a Protestant, married the author’s great-grandfather at St. John’s Catholic Church in Sigmaringen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany in August 1875 before immigrating to Jersey City, New Jersey in 1882.

Engelbertha Krupp’s absence from the Krupp landscape had a profound effect on history. Her brother, Friedrich Krupp became the sole heir to the vast Krupp Empire, leaving her completely out of any inheritance. Friedrich’s daughter Bertha Krupp (1886-1957) eventually inherited the empire upon Friedrich’s death in 1902 resulting in an arranged marriage to Gustav von Bohlen und Halbach by Kaiser Wilhelm II. That marriage produced Alfried Felix Alwyn Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach (1907-1967), the most notorious Krupp of all who used slave labor from Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Krupp factories during WWII. Alfried Krupp was convicted at the Nuremberg Tribunals for crimes against humanity and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Under German law at that time, Engelbertha was the most eligible Krupp to inherit her father’s empire since she sired three boys- compared with the two girls that brother Friedrich sired. The author contends that given the kind, compassionate, and respectful lives her three sons lived in America (one being the author’s grandfather) is proof they would never have aligned themselves or the Krupp Works with the Nazi Party during World War II. Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach gave Adolf Hitler and his military immense firepower allowing the dynasty’s war machine to reach as far across the globe as it did.

Krupp A.G. is better known today as the giant steel conglomerate ThyssenKrupp A.G. of Essen, Germany.

By Daily Mail Reporter | November 27,, 2010

  • 3 million documents set to go online
  • U.S. diplomats face being kicked out of countries in backlash
  • Corrupt politicians expected to be named and shamed
  • Bombshell leak thought to include U.S. assessments of Gordon Brown
  • Secret talks on return of Lockerbie bomber to Libya may also be leaked
  • Allegations ‘include U.S. backing of Kurdish terrorists’
  • World leaders were warned last night by America that damaging secrets about their nations were about to be laid bare.

The documents include highly damaging and embarrassing communiques from U.S. embassies around the world, especially from London – revealing the truth behind the so-called ‘special relationship’ between the U.K. and the U.S.

The U.S. ambassador to London made an unprecedented personal visit to Downing Street to warn that whistleblower website WikiLeaks was about to publish secret assessments of what Washington really thinks of Britain.

The website is on the verge of revealing almost three million documents, including thousands of sensitive diplomatic cables sent to Washington from the American embassy in London. The bombshell leak is thought to include U.S. assessments of former British prime minister Gordon Brown’s personality and his prospects of winning the General Election, and secret discussions on the return of the Lockerbie bomber to Libya.

Assessments of current Prime Minister David Cameron’s election chances and his private assurances to U.S. officials may also be included, Government sources believe.

They fear they will emerge on Sunday in co-ordinated releases in newspapers in Britain, Germany and America. The British government is so worried that last night it issued a D-Notice, warning that publishing the secrets could compromise national security. The website has previously released secret details of allied military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Revelations of American brutality in Iraq and Afghanistan created shockwaves, made WikiLeaks notorious and led to its founder Julian Assange – an Australian-born computer hacker – being vilified by governments around the world. He is now wanted for alleged rape in Sweden.

In total, around 2.7million confidential messages between the U.S. government and its embassies around the world are to be released.

The U.S. State Department warned that the leaks would damage relationships around the world. Spokesman P J Crowley said: ‘These revelations are harmful to the U.S. and our interests. They are going to create tension in relationships between our diplomats and our friends around the world.’

The U.S. ambassador to Britain, Louis Susman, was seen going into Downing Street and the Foreign Office yesterday to brief officials for what was described as ‘contingency planning’. ‘He came in to explain what they thought we could expect,’ said one Whitehall source.

Defence sources said British national security could be ‘put at risk’ by the release, as they are expected to contain details of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and pull-outs and revelations about secret service practices and intelligence sources.

Downing Street is braced for potentially hugely embarrassing disclosures about private U.S. assessments of Britain and its leaders.

There are fears of even the most apparently trivial secrets being hugely damaging.

One British official said they feared that mutual American and British contempt for the French would emerge. ‘Moaning about the French was practically a sport,’ he said.

Mr Cameron’s spokesman declined to discuss the nature of any confidential communications that could be released.

He said: ‘Obviously, the Government has been briefed by U.S. officials, by the ambassador. I don’t want to speculate about precisely what is going to be leaked before it is leaked.’

As well as Britain, the U.S. has warned the governments of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Norway and Israel in advance of the release. …

It has been claimed that a backlash by countries upset over the leaks may lead to U.S. diplomats being expelled.

The next release is expected to include thousands of diplomatic cables reporting allegations of corruption against politicians in Russia, Afghanistan and other Central Asian nations.

But there were no specific details as to the nature of the corruption allegations or which governments are involved.

However, according to the UK-based Arabic daily newspaper al-Hayat, the WikiLeaks release includes documents that show Turkey has helped Al Qaeda in Iraq – an extraordinary revelation which could kill off the country’s hopes of joining the EU.

The Washington Post reported that the files will contain allegations that the U.S. has supported the PKK, a Kurdish rebel organization that has been waging a separatist war against Turkey since 1984.  …
